Maldives Half Marathon 2023 concludes with great success

Maldives, 11th March 2023

The Maldives Half Marathon, powered by HDC, took place on 11th March 2023 at Hulhumalé Running Track, Maldives.

Running in the Maldives Half marathon 2023 is not just about an amazing experience and achieving a personal milestone, but also about raising awareness and funds to protect the beautiful reefs of Maldives and the world. The event witnessed the participation of over 1500 runners, wheelchair participants, and in-line skaters, making it a great success. For the first time in the Maldives, a separate race category was made for 20 wheelchair participants, with the help of the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) and the Maldives Association for Persons with Disabilities (MAPD). The in-line skating race participation doubled this year, with over 150 participants from all skating clubs in the Maldives. The Half Marathon, Tough Ten, and Fifteen K categories had over 400 finishers, making it a great achievement for the participants. The Fun Run and KidsMile had over 600 finishers, with participation from all running clubs in the Maldives. The event witnessed a huge crowd of supporters, cheering and encouraging the participants and making the atmosphere fun and lively. The 5K Fun Run was graced by the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives His Excellency Munu Mahawar and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives His Excellency Rear Admiral S. M. Abul Kalam Azad.

I am excited and encouraged by the involvement and support of foreign diplomatic Missions in the Maldives, and I personally congratulate High Commissioner of India H.E. Munu Mahawar and High Commissioner of Bangladesh H.E. Rear Admiral S. M. Abul Kalam Azad for finishing the 5K Fun Run.
